How to setup and configure Telus Internet and email.

I have been getting a lot of calls asking how do I setup and configure Telus Internet and email. This page should get you started on a successful configuration for your email and high speed Internet. You DO NOT need to install the Telus software that was shipped with your hardware.

The first thing you need to do when setting up high speed Internet with Telus is to register the MAC address of your router on the Telus system. Until you do this you will have no Internet service. To register your MAC address go to registerdevice.telus.com.

How do I know what my MAC address is? To find out what your MAC address is do the following:

• The easiest way is to look on the bottom of the router for the MAC address. The MAC address will look similar to this: 00:1F:2G:83:O7:7Y:
• If the MAC address is not visible you could try the following:
• Hold the Windows Logo Key down and press R on the keyboard.
• In the run box type in cmd
• In the black box that pops up type in arp -a look for the internet address of your Telus router, it should be 192.168.1.254 record the physical address it should be similar to 00:1F:2G:83:O7:7Y:, that is the MAC address you will need.
• Another method for retrieving the MAC address is as follows:
• Launch Internet Explorer, Firefox and or Google Chrome and type 192.168.1.254 into the address bar.
• Next, the router will be asking you for a username and password. Leave the username field blank and type in the password which should be either telus, or Wireless.
• Next, look for a link in the router configuration panel that says Summary or something similar. The MAC address should be there.

Now that we have registered the MAC address on the system we should be able to surf the Internet. Now we need to configure our email client. Learn how to Setup Outlook Express for Telus email or Setup Outlook for Telus email.

• Incoming Mail Server Type: POP3
• Incoming Mail Server: pop.telus.net
• Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.telus.net

• Incoming Mail Server Type: IMAP
• Incoming Mail Server: imap.telus.net
• Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.telus.net

• NNTP Server: news.telusplanet.net Port 119
