How To Set Virtual Memory Settings In Windows XP

The following article describes how to set virtual memory settings in Microsoft Windows XP.

Click on Start then right click “My Computer” and choose “properties”. Click the “Advanced” tab and then click on the “Settings” button in the Performance section. In the Performance Options dialog box, click the “Advanced” tab. Then click the “Change” button to display the Virtual Memory dialog box.

If you have 512MB of RAM in your system set the minimum amount to 768MB, and then set the maximum amount to 1536MB. The minimum amount should always be 1.5 times the amount of RAM in your system. The maximum amount should be 3 times the amount of RAM in your system.
